It really depends on who is going to do the counting. Some places are recognized as countries by one country, but not by another. United Nations is probably the most neutral voice on what is a country and what is not.

193 countries in the world but that figure can be more if u look at some countries (ie the uk 1- britian, 2- wales, 3- scotland )
