Their leader is a religious zealot who wants to wipe Israel off the map and is working on getting nukes. He comes out one day saying he would sacrifice half of the Iranian population to destroy "the Zionists", the next day he puts on a pair of glasses and says his country doesn't want to harm anyone. The U.N. wants to sanction him but Russia and China won't agree to it. As if sanctions would even work. Have they ever worked?

The world does not have the "balls" to do anything about Iran. The US is the only country that does. It is clear that the US military is already stretched too thin.
Please remember that China and Russia both get a huge amount of oil from Iran.
Sanctions have never worked.

Yeah, eventually. U.N. sanctions are merely a slap on the wrist; in the days of the League of Nations, then-Ethiopian leader Haille Selassie asked for protection against Benito Mussolini and the invading Italians but the L.O.N didn't do a darn thing.

I'm afraid it might take warfare to deal with Iran, however, if we drop bombs there, they'll be dropping their nukes on Israel.

What is Iran doing the the US isn't also doing?

Both have fanatical leaders that don't care about the laws of their country, and will do anything necessary to destroy the enemy regardless of how many lives its costs.

The US has actually used nuclear weapons, and is known to have them. Iran has never used nuclear weapons, and keeps saying that it doesn't have them. Granted, I don't trust Iran. But I also don't believe anything our own govt says about the issue.

The US has invaded Iraq, with resulting deaths of hundreds of thousands of Iraqi civilians, for no valid reason other that to depose a leader we didn't like. Iran has only threatened to do this, or at worst supported terrorists responsible for hundreds (not hundreds of thousands) of deaths.

And no, sanctions don't work. So, does the US have the right (other than military might-makes-right) to tell another sovereign country what to do just because we don't like them or don't trust them?

And if that's the standard, doesn't China have the same right to tell the US what to do, since they outnumber us 4-to-1?

What would you suggest they do??? Are we supposed to solve all of our problems with war & bombing? I think a big mistake being made right now is this administrations refusal to sit down and talk with Iran. That's what civilized people do. You have to turn the situation around and look at it through their eyes as well, they feel threatened by us too. We already have nuclear weapons and have used them in the past (Japan). I really believe if we tried to approach this in an intelligent manner we'd have the world on our side and then we might be able to work through this without bloodshed.

No

With a woos like Coffee AndRum in the UN saying "We should not use force to disarm terrorists" do you actually think there will be a Global consensus?

It's going to take a Rogue President with a well educated side kick to explain the complicated details. To jump with both feet into the Iran mess.

Go big Red Go

I don't see why he wants to annhialate Israel as he is a shia and the palistinians are sunnis who hate and kill shia.

As for the sanctions maybe russia and china are trying to lever in ways that will harm the west and promote their own ends, I say.

Iran is a religious republc and as such ought not to be trusted to be reasonalbe. Whether the USA is any better....well at least they sponsor science.

You ever wonder why everyone doesnt agree with us? Ever wonder if you have the whole story? Ever read an adult version of history and not the 6th grade education version on tv and in magazines and most papers? Ever listen to shortwave and hear English language broadcasts from Germany and Russia - even England for that matter. Ever wonder why the news is so different?

I didnt think so.

Don't worry little hatemonger, they will be bombed shortly. Grab some popcorn and stand by. This country is filled with morons, and you are a perfect example. We should be more worried about the lives we are currently taking and not thinking about taking more.

Don't know, don't care [about the world's response]. I pay big bucks to the US gov to protect my property, my body & my country; they better get their butt in gear and put that dog down in Iran.
