Stop using the gel. I am a lot older than you, when I was in my 20's, I noticed the same thing. Maybe the gel won't let your hair folicles breathe. I have much better luck using hair mousse.

Actually... my 12 year old son was just spoken to by his barber. He uses a ton of gel and the barber told him that the gel (when used excessively) can actually make his hair start to fall out.
Lighten up on the gel (use about the size of a dime). If you do not see changes then I am sorry to tell you that it could be the beginning of male pattern baldness. I teach high school and have students with badly receding hairlines.
There are things that you can do but you need to talk to your parents. If things do not get better you can see a dermatologist. She can tell you if it is indeed male pattern baldness. There are also some treatments that she can recommend. If you start something like that though it is for life.
I also have a friend who got hair plugs. He looks great, but he did wait until about age 30 to do that.
Nioxin is a shampoo that is supposed to create a "healthy scalp environment." Check into that and take vitamins. I am not a doctor; talk to your parents first!

I am fighting w/my 14 yr old step-daughter on her excessive use of the curling iron, hair straightener and hair products. She keeps complaining about dead ends and her hair being unmanagable. Her hair is getting damaged everytime she uses the excessive heat and gels.....

get a good haircut/styling that requires minimal maintenance and use a conditioning shampoo, comb/brush and let dry or dry using low heat. You will be surprised on how healthy your hair stays.

I am in my late 30's and everyone (males) that i went to high school with that used gels and blowdried their hair are now bald.....I never used gels and only occasionally use a hair drier and still have very thick hair.

You can try a different hair style, maybe shorter hair and slick it back. Girls like that, makes you look determined and masculine. Also you can try using less gel. I started with a half dollar size, then quarter size, now i use about a nickel size.
