It depends what you want to do. I understand that Dubai is a pretty glitzy place and good for shopping and so they're likely to see Christmas as a commercial opportunity. My experience of Middle Eastern Muslim countries is that they don't celebrate Christmas in a religious way, but Christmas commercialism is often really evident. It can be interesting in a tacky sort of way. And I've been told Dubai is very luxurious so it would be a good place to feel looked after and pampered.

While it isn't overly Christmasy it is definitely a nice place to go on holidays in the winter. I was there once in November and I did see a few Christmas trees though. And ignore the guy who said not if you like to drink because there are more then enough bars there and the locals drink at them too. But anyway Dubai is resonbably warm in the winter so you can still go to beach and now you can even go skiing in Mall of the Emirates although if you have skiied for real it really doesn't look that appealing but it is fun to watch people who have never seen snow before try. There is a lot to do in Dubai in general so I think it would be as good a place to get away as any.

Dubai is rapidly developing, therefore the cost of living is increasing. Lots of innovative and tourist attracting projects are springing up in Dubai, they have created the biggest man made island in the shape of a palm tree, the tallest building, Burj Dubai, is under construction and would be ready in 2 years time, they are making the biggest park, the biggest Airport, the largest Mall, etc, they plan to Make Dubai a Tourist Paradise by 2010.

The only drawback is the weather, when its hot its blazing hot, Jun, July, Aug are the hottest, its often above 40 Degree Celsius. Other months are cooler. Best time for visiting is Nov – April.

Hotels and transportations are expensive for Tourists. Best is to find a resident, who knows the area well to show you around dubai to cut down the cost.

Nothing Special happening inDubai for Christmas. The Climate would be good. And in Jan there would be Dubai Shopping Festival.

Dubai has several ethnic highlights along with most of the extravagant modern add-ons and with Hotelbye you will know more relating to this city. In the Bastakia area you'll discover the old Dubai but the most gorgeous locations that Dubai provides could be the Burj Khalifa, the world's highest developing and shopping malls that come filled with mammoth aquariums and interior skiing slopes. The Burj Al-Arab is the place you want to stay. That lodge is the world's tallest lodge with 321 m high and is found by itself artificial island on the Dubai coastline. Built to resemble a billowing dhow travel, the exterior of the Burj Al-Arab is lit up by way of a choreographed colored light show at night. Decadent in every way possible, it is one of the most costly hotels in the world but is definitely worth it.

Dubai is lovely in December, you can find everything you need in a vacation there, lovely beaches, great shopping and yummy food, seafood especially.... although it is a Muslim country but it is a free country, you can wear whatever you want, it is a great place, I'm sure you will enjoy it.

During Christmas is the perfect time to visit. Avoid it during summer though, it's too bloody hot. I'd compare the wind during summer to a blast furnace.

Winter though is great there, the weather being very pleasant, not roasting hot and not cold either.

I hate Dubai, i am here now, not through choice! Why would you want to spend Christmas in a country that doesn't like non muslims?
Don't do it Grace, not unless you have experienced the muslim countries previously! Sorry if this isn't what you want to hear, just an honest opinion. Try Thailand or Malaysia, both great weather at that time of year and lovely friendly non religious fanatical people.
