i have a laptop with pc4200 (DDR-533)SDRAM in ti i want to up grade my ram but this kind cost to much can i use other types of DDR? or SDRAM or other formats of PC ram on my laptop???

If you do use other types of ram, and they aren't compatible, you'll have a bigger problem than you have now..
Talk to a local computer shop, ie, someone in your town who does repairs, and refurbishes used puters, they may have some that they can sell a little cheaper, orrr, they may be willing to do some 'horse trading' with you.

no. if you use different types of ram, it wount work or it wont even fit into the ram slot

no you need to install what the machine takes. Can not mix types. one place i would try is www.buymemory.com

Go to Crucial.com and download their system scanner. It will scan your machine and tell you exactly what your options are.
