from my research, I know I can take a Coast Guard class...but that is just class time...I want to learn how to physically operate a boat. Does anyone know where I can do this?

Also, do you know where I can rent a boat once I learn? I really want to learn so I can go out in the intercoastal and swim...so suggest the type of boat too......if you figured it out by now I am a complete rookie.

The Beat Way to learn how to "Operate a Boat" is to take the Coast Guards Americas Boaters Course" not only will you learn the proper boating safety regulations for your State and the Federal standards, you will learn about proper operations, also water navigation and vessel informations... a boat is much like a car with a steering wheel and throttle.. if you can drive a car you should not have any problems operating a vessel..My Coast Guards Flotilla would be happy to instruct you.. I am sure that most Flotillas will be the same...

if you look hot just go with some friends near a boat dock and hook up with some guys going out for the day .... im sure they would let you drive it some. try the boynton inlet dock or john prince park. ... you might learn to water ski while your at it.

...theres a few places to rent boats ... if you get around the intracoastal at palm beach or singer island just ask in one of the boat shops around there im sure they can direct you to a place ... but renting a boat will be expensive no doubt ... peanut island is cool yes :) ... u might actually be better off renting a jetski :) so maybe look into that.

look in the yellow pages and just go rent one and practice -- just one of many reasons you dont buy a used boat from a rental out fit lol
