It means that your body is not processing the protein you eat properly. It is one sign of pre-eclampsia, which can become a serious problem if you don't deal with it *now*.
Head over to this website for information on a proper pregnancy diet that will help you prevent pre-eclampsia. I don't believe that Dr. Brewer's diet actually achieves the "zero pre-eclampsia" he says it does, but I do think it will improve your chances of reversing any damage you might have.

That is a warning sign of pre-eclampsia, but it doesn't mean you have it just that you are more likely to develop it.
Basically, you can control this, but you need to watch your blood pressure and your weight gain.
Make sure you're drinking enough water, but watch out for fluid retention (the fluid is not water), make sure your kidneys are working by monitoring how often you pee.
Eat a healthy diet with lots of fruit, vegetables, low fat dairy and lean meat. No chips, ice cream, or fast food. Unless you have other problems with your cervix or placenta position, take a relaxing walk or gentle swim every day for 30 to 60 minutes.
Good luck and I hope you have a healthy pregnancy from here on in.

Pre eclampsia is a complication of pregnancy characterized by high blood pressure, edema(swelling due to fluid retention), and an excess of protein in the urine.
