It depends in what area of the world you live in. If your country uses the metric system then it is measured in cm. If your country uses the imperial measures then it rain is measured in inches. Hopes this helps. How can you measure rain in square inches? that is funny.

Well here it's measured in inches. Just like most things, it depends in what country or state you're measuring rain. Right now, our lake is 13 FEET below normal. We need a lot of inches to recoup. Dance for rain!
