Well, you know that a plane is the safest way of travel according to statistics. But if you are worried about terrorism, don't be. Think about it mathmatically:
Let's say 50,000,000 travel on airplanes in a given year (I am sure it is much higher) and 170 are killed by terrorists, that gives you a 170/50,000,000 chance or a 1 in 300,000 chance. You have a better chance of winning you local 4 digit lottery twice in a row then being on a plane with a terrorist.
Plus if you read newsweek, they printed an article a few years ago about the planning it takes to get all of the materials and people on the plane that you need. A plan takes 3 years or more. Now with more scutiny and more feds on the case most are foiled well before they get to the airport.
Finally, if you don't live life why live. Everyone takes chances, it is just another one.

It is safe to fly despite what has been the recent hot topic in the news today. Terrorism has instilled the fears on travel far before 9/11...and being that air travel is the most widely used travel method in the world...we have no way but to accept it as the primary method of travel....
But I would like to include despite the relatively low amount of airline accidents, I always say a prayer before leaving ground..that way in case something happens...God knows I was sorry for my failures as a Christian. Oh and one more thing... heavy turbulence scares me!

There are millions of flights every year and a very, very small percentage ever have deaths. You are more likely to die in a vehicle within a few miles from home than on an airplane traveling across the country.

safer than driving a car.
But it still is uneasy. Taking off is the best. Then I'm ready to land. I hate landing. But when those wheels hit the runway...whooo, relief.
Southwest is a great airline. Nice, clean planes.
Don't be alarmed if you go through extra security screening. Takes longer, but makes you feel better that they check people that way. Just arrive like 3 or 4 hours before in case they pick you. Don't lock your suitcase. They have the right to tear it open if they feel they need to check inside.

It is very safe. In fact, in terms of deaths and injuries per distance traveled, it is safer that driving in a car or even walking. I know it feels dangerous because you have so much air below you, but it's not.
However, if you have a tendency to get motion sickness, you may get it from flying; your body doesn't deal with the motion as well as it does with walking or even driving. But motion sickness isn't dangerous, merely annoying.

I'm nervous too, but it's really safe now - they are being very vigilant at the airports. Bring a good book...
