My baby seems to have major gas. It sometimes keeps both of us up for most of the night. I have tried Mylicon and Levsin drops. Does anybody have any more suggestions?

My baby was also very fussy with gas problems. I did use Mylicon also, it helped but only a little. I was exhausted and she cried and cried and cried. As did I. I think at that point she was feeling my stress and it stressed her and made her cry more! Looking back I wonder if she was slightly lactose intolerant. Are you breast feeding or using formula? If you're using formula try switching. Try not to use any formula with iron in it - that can cause gas and constipation. Does your baby burp good? Try moving his/her legs up and down and rubbing his/her belly as much as possible. Use a warm water bottle on his/her belly too. I know how you feel! Please be sure to check with your pediatrician and explain what's going on. I found mine to be totally unsympathetic...which made me even more frustrated. Good luck to you!

Ensure that while the baby is awake, he or she get 10 minutes of tummy time on the floor 3 times a day. It helps them work the gas out.

You can also try one teaspoon of cooled fennel tea before each feeding.

If you are breast feeding, you might want to take a look at your own diet and avoid gassy foods like beans and cabbage.

If you are formula feeding, you might want to try another kind of formula and/or a bottle designed to prevent gas/colic.

Good luck!

You might try something like Itsy Bitsy Yoga. There is a book and classes all around the US. Infant massage can also be helpful. You might want to look into Elimination Communication (EC). I did this with my youngest 2 kids and they were both less gassy. When they had gas it usually meant it was time for the potty.

Are you breastfeeding? You might want to look into "over-supply", which is really just the baby getting more of the "foremilk" and less of the "hindmilk". An abundance of foremilk can make a baby gassy. It is easy to solve, though, by making sure your baby "finishes" one side before switching to the next and possibly using a breast compression technique.

Good luck!

Am not sure if you're breast feeding or formula, if your breast feeding, it could be your diet & what you're eating, if formula sometimes you have to change formula's - probably a good idea to check with the doc for more suggestions or before changing formula's especially if the baby is on any kind of specialized formula. Gas does happen tho...Take Care & Congrats

Mylicon gas drops are the suitable issues ever invented! The well being practitioner instructed me to furnish him some IN each and every bottle for a month or so, and that they worked wonders! in the experience that your breast feeding you could basically provide them after each and every feeding, their secure to apply perpetually, yet you cant use them extra then 12 situations an afternoon... in the experience that your bottle feeding then bottles could make a huge distinction too, I want the playtex drop ins... yet you will discover different varieties of bottles that cut back gas too!
