need to replace my heater core in a 1996 olds achieva I know it is not an easy job but need some info

actually easier than you think right under radio above the tunnel is the heater box cover and remove six or eight screws two metal straps and it pulls out if you have disconnected the two heater hoses under the hood the core most likely will look different than the one that is going back in trust me a little vasoline in the two plastic pipes it will slide up into posistion. Straps next then the cover all the screws even the two right next to the black sound deadinig. Fill with coolant run the heater until the thermostat opens radatior cap off idleing. About a 4 on a 1 to 10 scale no special tools needed just paitence.

piece of cake... its under dash in the center. u may need to learn yoga to reach it thou.


haha, just kidding about the yoga.

u will need a 7mm, 5.5mm socket, 1/4 drive ratchet, 1/4 drive unversal, 1/4 drive extension ( 3in long) and a pair of pliers to remove the heater hoses.

If it's anything like other cars of that time do try it you may have to remove the whole dash. I know you have to do that with the Ford taurus and other models.

First find where its located. Unhook the coolant hoses that attached to it. Its simple just do it and you will see its self explanatory
