People Do Not dress up here (NYC) for the first day. Casual look: normal, but good. Check if the school has a uniform. You can wear whatever people in the street have on normally. Look around you and copy a look you like. If you are in Ny state people might be a little dressier than normal. Act like its no big deal, pretty much. If you are a girl remember you want to be a little pretty, I'd say go with a nice or sweet look. Go with whatever is comfortable though, particularly in the city, people just dont care how you dress as much because if you dont get alogn in school theres a whole city of people to go meet. In NY we tend to wear darker colors though. Id say for a public high school (I dont know your age) but jeans and a nice t shirt would be fine. A Little makeup if you're a tennage girl, no black eye liner. Dont go with any really bright colors. If its a public school Do Not wear light blue or red first day if this is a public school or you live in a bad neighborhood. They are both gang colors and someone might jump you for it. Remember everyone here wears dark color clothes. So blue jeans, no khakis unless youre going to a private school like St Anns. I mean, somethign like Old Navy should be all right. It's not much differen tthan school any wher else. Important: If you commute on the Subway here in NYC be careful of the men and roving groups of teenagers. I'll be honest youre going to get groped and at least insulted once during th eschool year unless you look like elephant man, happens to everyone, just learn to not let it ruin your day. Paradoxically the nicer and (slutier) you look the less likely you are to be bothered. Good luck, peopel here are the same as anywhere youll be fine.
Oh I checked your other questions - carry one of those new bookbages with two straps that curve in. A lot of high school kids dont carry bookbags or books (im not kidding) just purses but francis lewis is a good school and you dont want to look liek a 'bad girl' first day. Day planner a few one subject notebooks, pencils, pens, calculator and graph paper. Turn Off your cellphone or leave it at home. Some schools dont allow them. Jeans - full length, if its hot you can wear shorts or a skirt, no full length skirts. Id say no capris but its a judgement call. Jeans and a tee shirt. If youre a clothes horse go with a little eye makeup, a light lip gloss, a nice t and sandals coudl work too. Get a nice pair of jeans if youre worried. Check the area this week and see what people your age wear and copy. The city has more variety than small towns in terms of clothes, youre freer to 'be you.'

Iam only 11 and i live in Northern Ireland but if you ar ea shy person wear something which may atract othershy people but if u are a popular sort of person wear something that says I have my own style and dont you copy it.

wear something according to the dress code, but try not to make it too "out of this world". On your first day, try not to give others the impression that ur some kind of a casanova. Wear something simple and that makes you look good.

In NY the key is to accessorize guns knifes brass nickles bats and the sort, you should be fine

Something that is comfortable, casual, and sophisicated. Don't wear short skirts or shorts because that's gross. Wear a nice lengthy skirt and a tank top.

Nothing revealing - something that reminds you of your personality. For example, skater chick - faded jeans, logo tee, and Vans/Etnies.
