French Royalty was wasting their money on parties along with their make-up and wigs. They used to throw huge parties fulll of food while french peasants starved to death. Then it was philosopher Rousseau and Voltaire that wrote about these cruelties and somehow woje people up to act against this corruption.

well several facts.
1) low food for lot's of poor people.
2) lot's of complains for the 'états généraux" kind of parlement representative of the "régions" areas of France.
3) The main reason is the growth of power from the "bourgeois" who had gain a lot of power (money, influence) with the growth of the economy. Is you study in detail (as i had in french school) how were the leader of the french revolution, you see that is was rich and educated people but not part of the aristocraty.
Globaly, the growth of the economy, the population, the education riched a point were the king was no more able to govern the country. the marchant, industry people push the poor to make the révolution then they took the power.
