The alarm goes off, we hit the snooze and sleep for another 10 minutes. He stays up for days on end. We take a warm shower to help you wake up. He goes days or weeks without running water. We complain of a "headache", and call in sick. He gets shot at as others are hit, and keeps moving forward. We put on anti war/don't support the troops shirt, and go meet up with friends. He still fights for your right to wear that shirt. We make sure our cell phones are in our pockets. He clutches the cross hanging on his chain next to his dog tags. We talk trash about our "buddies" that aren't with us. He knows he may not see some of his buddies again, We walk down the beach, staring at all the pretty girls. He walks the streets, searching for insurgents and terrorists. We complain about how hot it is. He wears his heavy gear, not daring to take off his helmet to wipe his brow.
We go out to lunch, and complain because the restaurant got our order wrong. He doesn't get to eat today. The maid makes our bed and washes our clothes.
He wears the same things for weeks, but makes sure his weapons are clean. We go to the mall and get our hair redone.
He doesn't have time to brush his teeth today.
We're angry because a class ran 5 minutes over.
He's told he will be held over an extra 2 months. We call our significant others and set a date for tonight. He waits for the mail to see if there is a letter from home. We hug and kiss our significant others, like you do everyday. He holds his letter close and smells his love's perfume. We roll our eyes as a baby cries
He gets a letter with pictures of his new child, and wonders if they'll ever meet
We criticize our government, and say that war never solves anything.
He sees the innocent tortured and killed by their own people and remembers why he is fighting. We hear the jokes about the war, and make fun of men like him.
He hears the gunfire, bombs and screams of the wounded. We see only what the media wants us to see.
He sees the broken bodies lying around him.
We are asked to go to the store by our parents. We don't. He does exactly what he is told.
We stay at home and watch TV.
He takes whatever time he is given to call, write home, sleep, and eat
We crawl into our soft bed, with down pillows, andget comfortable.
He crawls under a tank for shade and a 5 minutenap, only to be woken by gunfire.
We sit there and judge him, saying the world is probably a worse place because of men like him.
If only there were more men like him!
If you support your troops, re-post this.
Only two defining forces have ever offered to die for you, Jesus Christ and the American G. I.
One died for your soul, the other for your freedom.

I can't believe people are still saying this war is to gain control of oil fields.. You you want to live in a country where the dictator has rape rooms, where he starves his people, and tortures them? I think all you who disagree with this should live in Iraq before the war.

I've never seen that before. It's nice. I would like to think it might open the eyes of some of those ignorant ungrateful people here in America who don't understand how much our troops do for us, but I'm sure it wont.

I have seen something similar, and you can believe that I will copy and forward it! I believe in protecting America, and our freedoms, I was never allowed to be in the military because I am a dwarf, I tried to join when I was younger, but I did not meet the requirements for the physical. If my country asked me to come and help now, even with all of my ailments, I would go. I have lived for nearly 50 years in America, I love our country, and I have not forgotten (as many have) watching innocent civiilans die on September 11, 2001! I have not forgotten about the hell in a school in Russia, and all of these people who say, So what to this question can literally kiss my wrinkled old posterior! The American Soldier is over there trying to convince the terrorists that America isn't full of wussies and wimps and whining foolish Liberals...You see who is sitting at their computer desks enjoying the freedoms that the American soldier is fighting for and now you know how many of them feel!

If not for these brave soldiers do you think we may expect more terrorist attacks on our country? Well, I don't just suspect it, I KNOW IT FOR CERTAIN! So sit back and criticize, but when your kid is being held hostage about to be blown to bits in an AMERICAN school by terrorist, don't go blaming people who are trying their best to show that America still has a spine! Some of you anti-American idiots just make we wish we still had the draft so you would have to either fight for America or LEAVE IT! By the way if the Military wants me for a dangerous mission, I would do my best even knowing that I would be defending the rights of people who care so little for me, or the other people who are trying to save some of your worthless apathetic butts! NOBODY LIKES WAR, and if given the chance don't you know that we would not choose to be involved in a war, but there is no choice, we were ATTACKED! Have you all forgotten that? Maybe they will have to attack us where it hurts some of you more personally before you are willing to give our American fighting men the honor due to them, and if you don't like my answer then in the famous words of Dick Cheney: "Go (BLEEP!) yourself!"

Good post, sweetie...I will share it, and I thank you for it. People in my own family are in harms way and I think more Americans really do need to care! Thank you for this question AND your remarks!

I AM AN AMERICAN AND I AM DAMN PROUD OF IT!

I know you'll think I'm a bastard for saying this but I'm paying that guy to do what he is doing. I didn't pay Jesus. War and armies are just a part of the world in which we live. I appreciate the military and support the function of the government in protecting American soverienty through the use of our Military. However, those guys are just pawns in the hands of bigger political forces. They do as they are told like good soldiers do. If he was a free man and I was captive and guns were not involved - would he offer to take my place in prison so that I could go free. Maybe he would, who knows, but I'm just not into hero worship of professional soldiers.

I don't support this war, but I do support the troops because they have no choice in the matter.

They are pawns in someone else's game. Sent to Iraq to die so that our government could get control of the oil fields!

Nice poem, but its a little misguided.

Yuh, so whats your question??

Okay so I just had to edit this answer...for seeing that I was voted 2 times thumbs down...

Yes, the statements touched my heart but I have seen this so many times in emails. I do understand that Jesus died for my sins. Of course, I give much more credit to the people at war than often given from others who fight for our freedom in America. They are friends, relatives dying for reasons we cant really explain. But what did you want me to say?? War will always go in and people will always fight for their country...Not everyone will accept or acknowledge the idea of Jesus. I give thanks for everything I have and I'm pretty sure many people, even myself, take things in life for granted (even the smallest most simplest) but WHAT did you really want me to say? I agree with you? Dam. And quite frankly Im pretty upset that people get so bothered about asking wut the question is...Just because you shared something that touched your heart doesnt mean everyone cares...Can't you look at things from all angles? I see everyone who agreed with you got a thumbs up? hm, interesting...but the truth is alot of people see this all the time. The ones who actually take it into consideration are commended and the ones who dont are either tired of hearing about it or ignorant or whatever the case...I cant say because I dont fall under that category...I sympathize but seriously wut kind of reaction were you expecting?

AND if you wanna go in more depth maybe I should talk to you about all the children dying of hunger everyday or the people dying of AIDS in africa or hey lets talk about the genocide issue? Global warming? There's more issues than just war and God but at least you ackknowledged that we can be quite selfish of many things in life while others are out there doing things most people wont do...AND quit being so biast and judgemental. Everyone is entitled to their own opinions. Have a nice day.......
