I wonder the exact same thing whenever I visit this forum. I suspect - and hope - that the questions are formulated simply to see how many eyebrows they can raise and maximize their responses.
Bush and Chaney is this and Gore and Clinton are that........and they're turning America into a fascist's state and on and on it goes.
Most of the questions rely on a bogus premise and I strongly suspect that in a very small minority of cases, these questions are asked by ignorant jerks who really believe we are all stupid and dumb and being led like lambs to our slaughter.
I find solice in believing that the questions you refer to are asked by the vast majority just to try and stir up controversy - and it works.

That's a very good question! I believe a lot of people thrive on hate. They will argue a black cow is white, no matter what the issue might be. It's human nature of people to rebel, however it would be nice to see a little love in this world. Civil-war has been going on for ages, that's why things are in such a mess.
If people would put their brain in gear before their mouth, it would be a better world. Can't say anything about the heart, because people let the mouth and brain rule them.

When you break it down, the real issue becomes a question of government size and scope.
If the government were not so large and far-reaching, people would be a lot less passionate about it because it wouldn't affect them so much.
But in this era of mega-government, wherein virtually all human activity is regulated and taxed, everything takes on epic proportions.
We are all supporting this behemoth government. Whenever it shifts even just a tiny bit, a lot of people get crushed.
Maybe this wasn't such a good idea. When was the last time you heard about the government getting smaller, or issuing new freedoms?

The one thing that seperates the United States from the extremist groups or most of the islamic world is military thinking. Most middle eastern countries attack the enemy (the US and Britain etc.) first, before we ever have a chance to attack them. This is logical in a sense, but they have still not been successful in throwing over our government. Chances are they will in the next few hundred years.
Most americans know now that our government is hated and have alot of misleading idealist views of the future(on our high horse). Our standards of living reflect that we dont respect the creator and that we are not thankful for the life givin to us. This is clear is the media, in our schools and most importantly in our government. While some americans are not at fault, we all share the roll in pissing off the islamic countries, whom it;s citizens are well mannered, well educated(to thier standards), and just plain respectful in just about every aspect of life and the future for what it holds.
It all comes down to standards, the middle east has better standards than us, so they think and America has better standards, so we think. It's more like a sibling rivalry on alot smaller scale, but dont think that America will win because we are more powerful, These islamic extremist as we call them are very patient and have been around for along time.
So who will win in this sibling rivalry?, Time will tell and it's up to each individual in any country from any background to decide as it is a life or death decision.

Well if you want to give up all your ideas and beliefs and take up mine... fine good idea...there won't be any fighting. But you are correct in one aspect, many cannot get past character assassination to present reasoned facts. Or they just ignore the real world and what is going in order to believe a fantasy world of sugar and spice and everything nice. I would include in the spoiled children category all the "hate Bush" bunch.... it really is childish.. get over it.

What can you expect other then what is going on when people continue to vote professional politicians into office who are nothing but self-serving jerks? Then those who do not even vote complain the most and will not accept the worst when it happens. Our political system needs a complete shakeup to rid us of these over-bearing individuals trying (and succeeding) to corrupt our government. Do they really give a damn about the tax payer or what the tax payer expects. I don't think so... do you?

Politics of hate began when the USSR collapsed. The right-wing has always led the hatred of Soviet Russia and that seemed to sustain them for about 50 years. Once their main enemy had self vanquished themselves, the right-wing realized that they can only exist at fever pitch and to do that, they needed a "new enemy" and they chose the rest of us. If we were to be "vanquished" as well, I have little doubt that they would fracture into smaller groups of right-wingers and hate each other over minutia.

I agree, this hate spewing and name calling gets old. I don't see it changing soon unfortunately though. I think we're really split as a nation and people are very passionate about what they believe. Too bad they can't see through the labels to try and find some REAL answers..thanks for posting.

Thank you very much. Great comment. Yes it is pathetic how so many people can whine and spew hate about people they don't even know.
But for all the bad people in the world there are millions of good ones.

Hmm, they could start a civil war. What's with all the para-military groups if you don't get a war? :)
Isn't this what it is like in "Real America"?
