Mice are so cheap, they're throw-away items. However if you want to try your hand at fixing it, turn the mouse over. There's a ring holding in the round ball. Remove the ring and let the ball drop out. You'll probably find lint and other gunk in there that keeps your mouse from operating as expected. Use tweezers to remove it.
You need to get all foreign matter out. The ball also can get coated with sticky gunk, so you need to clean it with alcohol (not vodka, use alcohol from the pharmacy). Reassemble the mouse. If it works, you've succeeded; if not, buy a new one. They are really inexpensive. You can even buy a cordless one for less than 20 dollars (but you can spend much moreif you wish). Good luck.

Now-a-days, (computer) mice are so cheap. Just go to your local Wal-Mart or Office Depot and buy a new mouse.

Unscrew the bottom and the ball drops out,they do get dirty dont they.
