I don't know the exact answer. But I would like the following reasoning.

Am I the body? If so, if I have a headache, or my foot hurts, did my self go down and I feel less? I don't think so; actually I am more determined to get over it, I explore, ask and try every way to find a way to getting over it because my self is the same and as strong as it was before I started hurting. Same thing with emotions, brain activity, intelligence, creativity, etc all connected to the body. If I am happy and more comfortable with wealth and things that please my body such as, clothes, food, sex etc., are they the self? They can't be, because they are all external to me and they make me happy because I choose to be happy with them, but they are not me. Some people are happy in a poor house with lots of love of family and others are measurable even with billions of money around to spend, an choice of the self.

Am I the waking consciousness? No, because when I sleep, I still can dream in my sleeping consciousness and when I wake up I feel fully normal my self. My self is not my thoughts or creativity or intelligence, because they all are absent when I sleep. My self is definitely not my body because even if I cut off or lose in an accdent, a foot or a leg or an arm, my self is still strong and I figure out ways to overcome my disadvantages.

So, the only answer I can think of is that I must be the Spirit of God, just like the Scripture says that I am created in the image of God. Perhaps I am a small portion of God's Spirit combined with my personality which makes me a Soul. Take the personality part off, because it is connected intimately with my family, culture and traditions, I am simply the Spirit forever observing everything that is happening around my body.

I am in reality eternal and seperate and independent entity from my body.

You know how I feel myself...when I simply wear T-shirt that I like and others don't...When I stand behind my decisions...When I go out without make-up or fancy clothes and i don't give a s*** what do other people thin....

I am... And because I am, you know who I am, and myself is what you call "you are". I become myself because you know me, and how you know me is what I am. Ask yourself... "Do I know you?" Then whatever is your answer becomes who I really am. It may sound significant or not, but if it's not, the logic comes in, I will be significant to others aside from you... Got the point?

The "self" is your consciousness of your own identity. Another word for it would be "ego".

I call myself me, thats all
but me doesn;t referes to my body coz my body is mine not me.
so me is something that can't be pronounced and seen. this is really more than conciousness. so it must be the thing where our conciousness comes from. it is the soul definitely .
bye
