Equality is meant politically only.
Equality in real life is a very flexible thing.
Not only are women often treated in an inferior manner, but I have seen many men who practically lived at the pleasure of their wives, even being abused by them.
Also, since there are always differences in IQ and talents, who will be willing to submerge abilities they have and their partners don't just to have the appearance of equality?
And faking things that way, where is the equality?
Freedom is an additional facet to that. Men pretty much can go out at any time of the day or night without great concern for their safety. I do not ever see this feeling of utter freedom in women. Which is wise on their part. But where is the equality there?

No. Men & women are not equal in all the ways today. But they are enjoying the same freedom as like men.
Because the men has more authourity, more power than women. Whenever in our home if there is puja then first the man comes in front of & starts the puja. Also whenever women want to go out it is require to check whether one single person(man) is going with them or not.
Now a days in the parties we all see that there is no diffrense in men & women. Men & women both are enjoying same.

Women generally are sidelined on monetary grounds. They are not allowed to inherit ancestoral property rights and even so if it happens somewhere, their proportions are not equal.
Still the mindsets of Indian men have not changed. In India, the government has to take drastic steps in property rights as women are cheated due to their ignorance and their vulnerability to dubious affections. Though property rights are there, cheating happens always by the obtention of their signatures for which they (men)apply various techniques. What the amendments should be made are compulsary transfer of properties for their legal heirs equally for male and female by fresh documentation and no continuation of the carrying all rights of male legal heirs solely by convincing their female brethern!
Though laws are already there, they should finish their jobs they meant

It certainly varies by culture. Physically, I think women are superior in many ways, but men have their superiorities as well. Legally, in the US we are theoretically equal, but as long as their are juries, it is only theoretical equality.
In the busness world women are still cheated, though in most identical jobs they do make the same pay - but only identical positions not equally difficult ones....
Never forget that in many cultures women - be bearors of new life - are still the superior sex.
