I believe in the immortality of the soul, but I disagree with Plato's presentation of it through Socrates. He believes in reincarnation and that a person doesn't learn new knowledge it is just simply recall. Well, if teaching is recall then some of my students have very poor memories. You can't prove the immortality of the soul in a conclusive manner, and that in itself depends on the agreed nature of proof. I base my belief of the soul's immortality on scripture, upon death a person leaves their body and enters into the spirit realm and is ushered into the presence of God.

Aristotle instigates the notion that: "The whole is more than the sum of its parts." For example, a painting is more than the paint, canvas, brush, and the painter.
There must be a control system to manage the inter-related parts. In viewing the "whole," a cognitive process takes place – the mind makes a leap from comprehending the parts to realizing the whole.
I see myself in the ocean of a supreme being that is called God, and at the end, my soul moves from the physical dimension to a spiritual realm, as another person described.

Since there is no such thing as a "soul", the question is irrelevant. Show me a soul, and I'll tell you if it's immortal or not.

I don't know what Plato said, but I believe the soul is "recycled" as parts, not necessarily as a whole - which would explain why we have some major lessons to learn in this lifetime and not others...

I believe our soul keeps returning to earth until it learns all the lessons it was meant to learn and becomes a completed soul.

your soul is your mind, will, and emotions.
what you and most others mistakenly refer to as the "soul" is actually your spirit, which is the real, immortal, you.
you are a spirit,you have a soul(mind,will,emotions)and you live in a body.
the real you, your spirit, is immortal.
