A common problem with older fuel injected fords was the throttle position sensor(T.P.S), but I had a few throttle bodies clog or vacumn hose to Manifold\ Atmosphere Pressure sensor(M.A.P), I need more info on engine size, to tell you where to look

i would say a vacuum leak or the timing belt jumped a couple of teeth, both of these are very common and could cause the trouble you are having. if it is the timing belt get a new one, about 10 - 20 dollars.
