we face an ever increasing number of violations of our civil rights and as fast as the aclu can challenge and remove these threats new ones always appear on the horizone .SOMEONE once said all it takes for evil to win is for good people to do nothing .
MORE and more people are doing nothing and the end result is we are slowly becoming a police state and our freedoms are errouding at an alarming rate .We have a number of abuses by the police and fed already and people want to go the way it seems of merry old england in its policing of america .THIS is all well and good when the word terrorist is applied .THIS one word is going to do more harm to america then all the terrorist actions and deaths would have ever done to america .

It's fair to say that.
When the business of america is business,
and the job of government is protecting private property laws, just who would you expect is going to get screwed?
But you wouldn't expect that they would be the last ones to know.

I would agree with you on that. Most people think that if it doesn't affect me or mine that is doesn't exist. A lot of people just cant handle the truth period. People are scared right now as well. For the first time, America doesn't feel safe anymore. They want our politicians to make it all better. Unfortunately, our more current leaders have only made it worse. We wont go there as to whom has created the most fear. Not only is it not safe here on American soil, their jobs are being outsourced or given away to a Non-Americans, not to mention how can they afford to feed their family's as salaries have decreased steadily since the mid 80's. As I'm sure you are aware these are only a few of the reasons why people choose not to acknowledge this path. I can only hope that there's a person on the horizon that is long term oriented and not immediate gratification sick that can change this course. We are heading to 3rd world status and unless something changes real soon, we are going to have poverty in the country like never seen before. We will truly be a land of have and have nots. The only bright spot is that the people will revolt against it soon.

Why don't you explain what you mean by" the slippery slope "? America is doing a great many things. Each person has his own idea of whether each thing being done is the proper course to follow, or a poor idea.
Also I notice that many of your questions have to do with the willingness to hear the truth.
My question to you is, who decides what is the truth and what is not ? Do we have to get the truth from you ? What are your qualifications for analyzing the news, and seperating the truth from the fiction ?
It would be great to have a truth patrol. But the head of that group would have to have a head clear of all prejudices. He would have to have no political preferences, no religious prejudices or preferences. He would have to be able to judge people by their values, with absolutely no consideration as to their nationality background, or the color of their skin.
Are you that person ? If not, please don't claim that you know the truth any more than we ordinary people.

Obviously, yes. That said, I'm not a fan of the slipper slope. Generally, it runs much more slowly that those who argue it and thus it's difficult to convince the other side.

I prefer the analogy of the frog:

If you toss a frog in a boiling pot of water, he'll jump right out again.

If you toss a frog in a pot of water and slowly increase the temperature to a boil, he'll sit in the water until his death.

We have far too many frogs sitting in a pot that keeps getting warmer and they don't know it. It isn't the terrorists turning up the heat - it's the very government they support.

As with a lot of questions in this forum, your premise is bogus. You form an opinion and then ask a question based on that opinion as though it were fact.

America is not on a slippery slope these days. It has a very sound and detailed agenda - WIN the war on terror.

We really don't need more rhetorical questions. We need suggestions and plans and more input as to how we can achieve this victory in the shortest and least painful way.

The danger lies in beliefs such as yours. You are putting your trust in the ACLU, Need I say more? The slippery slope is this war with terrorism and that not many people seem to realize it is for our survival. This takes precedence over the picky argument that our individual rights are being violated. Those that have nothing to hide, should not mind if they are being spied on for THEIR OWN PROTECTION.

You are one of the few to realize this, and your question is fair enough. For the most part people do not like to acknolwge the possibilty of what's going on until things happens before our own eyes.

And what am I supposed to about about it. The ACLU is messed up. Do you relaize that it doesnt matter who we have running this country, it will never be the perfect place liberals think they can make it?

By what you are saying I can only assume you would rather we did not protect ourselvs and become weak like the french. When we get attacked again you will be the first to blame the president and say not enough was done.the only way to stop the enemy is to find them and kill them.

Case in point, see the posts above.

But most are not ignorant (unaware) of the slope. Sadly, too many are eagerly slipping and sliding down it, proud to fall....

What they are unaware of is what happens when we reach the bottom.
