OK, tell me if I'm wrong, but the purpose of the preseason and WINNING a football game and having a WINNING season is to have the absolute best player you can find in every position...right?

So is Lovie Smith even CONSIDERING Grossman over Greise? Greise is heads above Grossman in running the offence. Heck, even Orton is doing a better job. Is there something in Grossmans contract that says he will be starting QB?

The whole thing is tickin me off. Greise is the best QB for the team, he even proves it every time he takes the field.

The thing to always consider with preseason football is, though, that a lot of the time the individual players are just working on things that they would not be doing in the regular season. It's the equivalent of a pitcher in spring training throwing nothing but fastballs in a game because he wanted to work on it and he knew the game didn't matter. Griese may look better than Grossman right now in the preseason, but that won't necessarily translate to being better in the regular season when everyone's playing at full speed. If Grossman starts out slow, I'm sure Lovie will waste no time in putting Griese in.

Why is this an issue? If your a Bears fan, you KNOW the outcome of this situation. Grossman hurt by week 3 of the season.... In comes Griese and the Bears win 8 of the 9 games he starts. The national press all over the Bears... We're #1, We're #1... on and on and on... Bill Murray on the sidelines, "NORM" from Cheers does a SNL Cameo... Terry Bradshaw has the 1 on 1 interview with Griese and life in the Windy City...

THEN...

Grossman then comes back in late November (crunch time) and the Bears lose their chance at a division championship, (they had a 9-2 record when Grossman came back) because the Bears lose 4 of the 5 games he starts and they get stuck as a last seed wildcard. Everyone off the bandwagon... etc., etc.,...

Da Bears...

you do not want McNabb to be QB. You would be better with griese or grossman. McNabb get injured every season and sits out for like 5+ weeks. It's a waste of money and talent he the bears pick him up. Grossman isn't all that bad. Just doesn't have enough experience. But yes, they do need a new starter QB.

No...the purpose of pre-season is to see how much depth you have on your team and to see who is there to backup your starters when injuries occur. If you have talent out there, it makes your opponent confused of what to focus their game around. I wouldn't worry about preseason...teams use it as a bluff to throw off other teams.
