It really makes me angry that some people can just " live off the system" so to speak when they are capable of working. I personaly think the system should be changed.people who want to work and cant work cause they cant afford their meds with out medical assistance but if they are to work their medical gets cut. There are so many assistance programs for people out there but i believe the wrong people are allowed to have them and those of us that should be allowed to have them cant get them cause we work for a living wich leaves us with out ragous medical bills or medications that we can never pay off or pay for with the pay we get. Also i believe both part time and full time people should be allowed benefits simply cause we work for a living. what are your thoughts???

I agree with the libertarian model of no social welfare programs at all.

But if we're going to have them, then it should work like social security. You pay into the program while you are working, and the benefits you get out are only what you had already paid into it.

Depending on your earnings, you should at least pay for part of your medical coverage. It should be Full coverage with no caps on costs of treatment. It takes a lot of hard work to live off the state esp. if you don't have other support and it is given, in most cases, for a short time with many strings attached. Look into the system where you live and find out for youself. Not everyone who is unable to work needs a caretaker and looks like they can't work. You can't put an appearance on laziness. You need to not base judgement on that. In my esperience and observation, depending on the good will of the public is for naught. They have the same attitude as you.Faith based charity should not be given with an attempt at conversion to their paticular way of Faith. I wish that I knew the answers. But, I do know that we , as a people, MUST get our priorities straight and then and only then, can all of us be dealt a fair hand in our struggle to survive. There is absolutely no excuse for hunger, homelessness or disability and/or death because of unaffordable health care in the richest country in the world.

i believe people who are united citizens/ green card holders or in the progress..(really close to gettn one).

if they are severly injured and cant work to support family they shud get some state help. sometimes a family also cant afford surgery and on top of that mantain food purchases and paying of the rent. and what about the tight children's clothes when winter comes around. if the persons child is not 16 there is a little chance they can live without the state help.

Only people who are truly unable to work should receive minimal benefits. And come on its more like people who cant work should really have a care taker and that care taker should really receive the help, since they are taking care of them.

Anyone else - NO FREAKING WAY. get off your azzes and get a freaking job or two if you have to.

I cant stand the fact that there are so many lazy people, i have always worked and always will God willing of course. I would plum embarassed to ask for help from the government.

Never had a problem with anger against them ever. Maybe you should be angry that the US medication prices are artificially jacked up compared to other countries.

Are you referring to your large homeless population as living off the system? If they were actually "living" off the system they'd be given apartments, like here (no homeless here).
