The question is how best to be detached from the world enough so that the loss of personal attachments is far from a calamity and yet not be so detached as to be indifferent. The loss of one's parents is inevitable just as the love of the deep love for them in that way one did as a child or the childish belief that he was permanently part of his parents household and that this family would last forever. The Buddhists teach us that everything is impermanent and evanescent, and Plato speaks about the inappropriate response of crying over personal loss of those whom one has had attachments. To be philosophical and compassionate are, according to Plato, intellectual attributes and thus a philosophical and compassionate outlook on a ubiquitious human condition is the best means of dealing with personal grief

You are just a child and you are really scared of this happening to you. I am not old, but my parents died long time ago. It doesn't matter what I feel, it ,matters what I am going to tell you: love them, learn from them, make them proud of you and hope that they won't die too soon. That's all you can do. I wish they'll live long enough to see you becoming the son/daughter they've always wanted to have.

i would be so sad and probly suffer from depression for who knows how long. losing your parents is hard because they are the two who brought you into this world and cared for you till the day you can live out on your own. nobody can ever replace them and you can never find anyone thats just like them in the world. but life does go on as the way you live it.

I would no longer be "somebody child".

No matter how old you are, you will always be "somebody's child" until both your parents are gone. And when that happens, you then imortalize the love and the lessons tthat they gave you. This is one of the many ways they "live on"......they continue to exist in our hearts and minds.

Mine are.

One deals with it.

The hardest is leaving anything left unsaid, including "thank you" for life and upbringing, and "I love you."

The end can come at any time for any of us, so say these things to loved ones while there is still time.

All have these words spoken to them by their parents, at one time or another; "Some day, you'll understand." Why not make that day today?

I would be devastated if my both of my parents died. Why do you ask? Wouldn't most people be very sad if their parents died? I'm not even a kid anymore and I would still be sad.
