When adding fractions, they must be in terms of a common denominator...in this case, the denominator is 2

- Multiply 2/1 *2/2 = 4/2

Then add: -1/2 + 4/2
Simplify using the common denominator: (-1+4)/2
Perform the addition (-1+4) = 3

Final Answer : 3/2

Good Luck
