you need to download some type of converter software, search in google for "DVD to MP4 converter" or "DVD ipod converter"
MP4 is the usual format for videos in ipods.

u need a kind of usb cable to hook it up to the dvd player

Stick them into your DVD/CD player on your computer and go to iTUNES and click upload and then click on that file.
