i cant understand ur logic behind population: u mean more=more development. but this is not true.
d reason that India is still a developing nation is as follows:
1.India got independence only 60 yrs back. britishers ruled India for 200 yrs and did all type of exploitation. India was said 2 b a golden bird b4 that. but britishers left nothing when they left India. India had 2 start from zero after that.
2.all developed nations r industrial based while India is agriculture based country.
3.continues war (4 direct wars and continues cold war) with pakistan is also a major loss for Indian economy.

considering the factors that India is still a developing nation, it is now among top countries in software (IT) field.
India is now a strong contender of UN security council seat.

Because India has no coherent economic plan, a growing population, a corrupt government, an educational system that produces quantity, not quality, no comprehensive welfare system, more poor people than most other countries, no intent to stem population, poor sanitation, not to mention politicians that get fatter daily by spouting useless rhetoric and engage in useless debates on inconsequential issues without accomplishing anything. Indians want to leave....why? Agriculture is archaic, but funds that should have been used to create a better living standard for the people were spent building nuclear weapons....What a great nation!

Who told you India Is Not a Developed Nation!!!!, Its a misconception that we are not developed, In 1947 we had very less Population And we had food for everyone, Now we Have a population excess of a billion and we still have food for everyone,
The theory of being a developed Nation is biased and flawed, There is no accurate metrics to validate the concept of a Developed Nation.

the size of population does not determine the development of the country.infact if the amount of population is high and if the population is uneducated and unemployed then the population goes wasre .if only this huge population is utilized properly it will do a lot of good.
in india still more than 1 3rd of the population is still under the poverty line . india has been under the rule of the british for about 2 centuries and thy have exploited our resoeses with all their forks and knives.and even today after such loss their is further loss because of the large amount of corruption.today also most of indians do not accept the newer ideas and r much supersticious.all this must be imroved so that we r able to develop our country.this is the diffrence between india and china.

Because India doesn't have the sufficient core skills such as SELF- DEVELOPMENT, You build a country on its resources and the limitations are set believe it or not by the population that occupies it. People are successful and ambitious because they have a deep sense of self- knowledge and are able to distinguish whats "RIGHT" AND "WRONG" for themselves and therefore strive for betterment and uplift themselves to reach higher levels of adequacy. The vast majority of people live lives of unconsciousness and don't know any better, but it is the duty of their fellow human beings to educate as well as liberate these people and open their minds to the beauty and essence of life...possibility. The poor will get poorer and the rich, richer..as India has a high percentage of "brain drain" as the highly skilled and knowledgeable relocate... It is indeed a highly controversial subject...

Because a large number of the population are poor.

Many families in India are forced to work in the nuclear power plants unprotected from the radiation even to the point of generational mutation and horrible birth defects.

India has a long way to go as a government in how they should treat their people. I think the peace died with Gandhi. They even beat each other up and have riots in their government meetings and elections.

IT is developing financially wise, and the higher population reduces per capita income which makes them a developing country. India has the highest amount of middle income people in the world. That is why many countrys are establishing their companies in India.

The population itself is the biggest problem. Most of the people are poor and uneducated. What we lack is good leaders with vision.
There are some politicians with a vision but they are very few.
Most politicians and bureaucrats are corrupt.

This country can only improve if people get educated and think for themselves.

Because indians are still bogged down by religion, caste, etc. See Indians outside India, they are normally quite successful, why? because even while they may keep their religious faith and customs PRIVATELY (and why shouldn't they?), it doesn't interfere in normal economic activity as it does in India.

If India were to actually put into practise its own secular Constitution and actually enforce its own laws in that respect, with that enormous population it would surely be one of the world's great powers.

When the vast majority of your people still live as they did more than 200 years ago, then you might still be a developing nation.
