Apply a cheap alphahydroxy acid (not the facial peel strength). Most are about 8%. Alphahydroxy acid gently exfoliates the skin. As soon as you apply the alphahydroxy acid, use a hand held massager with infrared light.
Use the infrared light on your face (not the vibration option), but DO NOT use it directly over your eyes, it can burn them. Also, if you use it too long on one area, you can burn yourself. Check the manufacture's instructions.
Infrared light kills the bacteria that cause acne and penetrates deeply into the skin. It works well on rosacea and wrinkles too. NASA has done a lot of research on infrared light for wound healing.
Infrared light alone is very good, but since I started using it with alphahydroxy acid, I started having much more dramatic results.
I think it must be because alphahydroxy acid makes the skin more sensitive to light.
I had acne up into my 30's and have had rosacea since I was 40. Since I have been using this treatment, I have had no more breakouts, and my wrinkles are gone too. I am 45 and my husband says my skin looks like a 25 year old's.

If your acne is severe, Proactiv MIGHT be the way to go. Otherwise it's way too harsh for minor or occassional acne. Otherwise, try the Murad Acne Spot treatment. I'm 34 and still get occassional acne. That stuff clears me up overnight!

My mom is in her late 30's and shes been getting acne bad lately. A product that really helps her is baking soda. She rubs a little on it and lets it sit for a little while then wippes it off with water. Hope I helped.
