If so, then why were 100's millions of US Tax dollars spent on Iserali bombs to blow up half of Lebanon, and then 100's millions of US and EU dollars supplied to rebuild it?

As a Liberal Democrat, I absolutely believe that. This is where I run afoul of most conservatives. But I do believe the government owes it people so much more than the best military in the world. At the end of the day there ought to be something worth defending.

You spout suspicions out-"hundreds of millions of taxpayer's dollars" as if they are fact. Let's see some proof. The constitution does not say anything about the government "improving the lives of Its citizens"-just the RIGHT for life, liberty and THE PURSUIT OF HAPPINESS.The government does have the obligation to provide a military to PROTECT OUR WAY OF LIFE. When we provide aid to our allies (israel) we are merely trying to presserve our way of life. You liberals need to wake up and realize that we are in fact in a war that will determine if we survive or not. Israel is one of our few reliable allies remaining. If you are so concerned about the money, maybe we should withhold any aid to Lebanon.

While I am not able to comment on the money to be spent on rebuilding Lebanon , how did you figure that US govt spent tax payer's money on those Israeli bombs that blew up part of Lebanon ?
I would thought those bombs belong to Israel and it is the Israeli's tax payer's money being used.

"To provide for the common defense . . ." I don't view Lebanese or Israelis as common around here. In fact, I can honestly say I've never met any.

This government is reaching way beyond what was ever intended and we're all paying the price.

The purpose of taxes are not to better lives, it never has been, it's to run the government, make politians rich, and provide defence, it appears without much success. Except for making politians rich.

It is the responsibility of the citizens to bring the complaints to their government when it does something inappropriate. If you don't like something, you need to voice that issue to your congress - Both House and Senate and president. If you don't indicate to them that you care, why should they care. They listen to the lobbyist because they are right there. You need to let them you that you are right there too.

It is also part of the govenment's duty to help it's allies.
Would you be complaining if this money was going to the Brits?

Also, we might have more money for OUR citizens if we weren't having to take care of illegal immigrant.

why do we pay for fancy parties for the politicians. Because they decide where our money goes. Period.
