Bio-fuel: Renewable resource. Essentially an unlimited supply in perpetuity.

Fossil-fuel: Non-renewable. When the oil's gone, it's gone forever.

Bio-fuel: Mostly independant of foreign sources. Most countries can grow their own fuel, though there are notable exeptions such as Japan.

Fossil-fuel: Often dependant upon a foreign supply. Subject to interruption for political or economic reasons.

Bio-fuel: As technology improves, costs and prices will likely decline as output increases.

Fossil-fuel: Declining supplies of harder to extract crude force technological changes just to maintain current production volume. This forces prices upwards continuously. This does force conservation measures which may temper price increases slightly.
