To MULTIPLY Fractions without a calculator -- multiply numerator by numerator (write down that answer), and then separately multiply denominator by denominator (and write down that answer. Sample:
1/2 * 3/7 = 3/14

To DIVIDE Fractions without a calculator -- first of all, flip the second fraction -- then proceed as if it was a multiplication problem. Sample:
1/2 ÷ 3/7 = 1/2 * 7/3 = 7/6

These are simple examples for multiplying and dividing fractions. Get your pencil and paper out and practice, practice, practice -- because that is the way you get better at this skill.

cross multiply like this 1/3 * 1/2 multiply 1 and 2 and then multiply 1 and 3. And i think the answer would be 2/3.
or you can figure out that 1/3 = .33 and 2/3 = .66 and just multiply or divide .33 and .66 but then you get a number and not a fraction, but hey you will be ahead of the class, because in the real world fractions are not the answer you always want at the end

Multiplication:

Simply multiply the numerators and the denominators:

For ex:

2/5 * 1/2 = 2/10 (which would be 1/5)

Division:

For division you have to "flip" the fraction you're dividing by first and then multiply:

so,

2/5 / 1/2 would be 2/5 * 2/1 = 4/5

when multiplying, first find a common denominator, then bring the bottom number over, and multiply the numerator over (top number) to the other. like 6/8 X 3/4. frist make 3/4 into 6/8 by multiplying the numerator and denominator by two. then multiply 6 and 6 and get 36/8

For multiplying: just multiple the above one w/ the above one, the one which is the below one w/ the below one too.
e.g. 2/3 x 4/5 = (2x4) / (3x5) = 8/15

For dividing: just up-side-down the other side (which means change the term from divide becomes multiple). then do the same way for multiplying.
e.g. 3/4 : 1/2 = 3/4 x 2/1 = (3x2) / (4x1) = 3/2

If you're multiplying fractions, you simply multiply the top across and the bottom across and then simplify it.
If you are dividing, you turn one fraction upside down and multiply.. then simplify your answer. good luck

To multiply:
Times the top on the left with the bottom of the right, and vice versa. The first number goes on top, second goes on bottom.

To divide:
Same as multiply, but you flip the right side first.
