If I were your coach i would tell you to have goals and strive towards those goals and build up your strength and stamina at a slow pace, for this type of mentality will go a long way ! Start by looking into a diet plan, nothing to wild but start puting the proper foods into your system, for this will be the fuel that empowers you, at least it will be one of the sources of fuel anyway .
provide your body with the proper sleep, it may take a little bit of discipline but this can help a ton.
When you start running, do not shoot for the stars on your fist run. Start by just getting out there, you dont even have to clock yourself, just run at a slow to medium pace and run till you can. The second or third week, start clocking your distance and climb slowly from there. All the best !

Just feaking run, there's no advise that goes along with it....just don't sprint the whole way...it helps for me to have music when I run... I am 19 also, but I am in the army, and if you don't run the way they want you to, then they will kick your a s s... but fortunatley you don't have that problem....I ran 9 miles the other day in a little over an hour, just KEEP A GOOD PACE

this running is bad for you, in time you will find yourself with impact injuries such as knee replacements, hip replacements. Get some weights for strength training & a bowflex home gym, preferably a bowflex extreme with all the necessary attachments, the Extreme2 uses less space. http://www.BowflexTraining.com They have free shipping until 9/15/06 at this site.
