OK....How many of us were really,,,REALY traumatized by finding out Santa wasn't real?!?! Not that many. I mean it's not something we commit suicide over. We just end up outgrowing him. Every child deserves to be able to live in some kind of dreamy reality, it's what being a kid is all about. Growing up and being an adult is about being a realist. Let kids be kids for as long as they can...which isn't long these days. Enjoy watching the look on their faces and the joy in their hearts. Let them believe in santa and the easter bunny and the tooth fairy and dressing up for halloween. And let the kid in YOU believe in santa and the easter bunny and the tooth fairy. You 'll be happier for it. Celebrate all of life's events. Your kid will thank you for it.

Parents aren't lying, they are carrying a tradition that has been around for years. Longer than I have been alive.
As a child I was told the story, when I became a parent I told the story, and now as a grandmother I am telling the story.
That doesn't make me a liar. Just keeping the tradition going from generation to generation.

Come on guys, Santa Claus is a tradition. When I have kids I will tell them the same story. I don't want to have the one kid in class that ruins it for all the other kids by telling them Santa doesn't exist.

of course its right! kids are happy! they have something to look forward to for christmas! they will think christmas is a big event bcoz of invisible santa and presents, and that goes into their brain and stays there!

but the parents are actually passing down the joy of christmas, the birth of jesus, even if kids dont understand.

& why? it doesnt affect the kids at all at a higher age.

did you grow up believing santa existed?

I never believed in santa clause, but that did not rob me of childhood wonder. I don't see the point in telling dumb stories to gullible kids when they'll grow out of it. It doesn't make anything more fun.

It never hurt any child that I know of. It gives them something to look forward to. Why would we want to take that away from them ? As long as they know what Christmas is really about, really, where's the harm in that?
They all find out soon enough!

well santa is based on a real saint who used to live and he gave gifts and sweets out to children. His name was St. Nicolas so maybe it is just keeping his memory alive.
