He's just getting ready to shed, thats all. Mine does that and I finally figured out that there was nothing wrong with him. After he sheds, he will be the most beautiful color! I love corn snakes, by the way!!

How long have you had your snake? If you are witnessing a shed for the first time, you don't have anything to worry about. If you have seen your snake shed before and this is different, don't be alarmed, either. Many corn snakes change color as they grow. Their markings will become brighter, and sometimes disappear and become a solid color. This depends on the type of snake.

with shedding, the skin will get lighter, the eyes will look a little blue-ish. The is the skin seperating from the scales as the snake begins to shed. Do not help your snake remove its skin, but do place a rock or something it can rub against in the cage.

The snake secreates a liquid between the old skin and the new skin and it's not ready to come off until the snake starts to rub againt something. It should come off easily. Make sure the cage is nice and humid, or even soak the snake in some warm water to help the process. If your snake is stressed, the shed might not go so well and pieces may stick to the snake. More soaking in water will help this.

As a snake approaches molting time its skin becomes duller, including the skin over the eyes. It probably is about to molt.
