Double panelled curtains have not done it, and a thick shower curtain have kept it darker, but the sun still warms up my room.

You can install blinds and add curtain rods on top of the blinds where you can hang shirred or pleated curtains. The curtains do not have to be made of heavy material. Light cotton or silk curtains are fine. The blinds are the ones actually keeping the heat out of your house.

Home Depot has a heat control insulated window film that is supposed to reflect up to 70% of summer heat, retain up to 55% of winter heating, and reduce UV rays up to 99%.

I am sure that other home improvement centers would offer a similar type product.

I've had this on my Home windows for 3 years now, and it works great. Brand "Axius" Static-Insta-Cling, Limo Extra Dark, Window Film. It's sold at Walmart, in the automotive section. I use 5%VLT Charcoal.

Any hardware store or your local Walmart store sells clear plastic window coverings. Frost King is the brand I use. Easy to put up And easy to remove in the spring.
