If you think about it, America (the world's center of supreme power) can do absolutely anything. So tracking down someone like Bin Laden in underprivileged Afghanistan or where ever is not a difficult issue. I just feel that the US government and Bin Laden are doing dirty business together and use media and people as their brainless puppets.

Well, I admit I don't know too much about it, but it seems Been Lousy is hiding in a region full of caves. If you have enough followers, you can tunnel from one cave to another with manual labor, and never have to go outside.
That said, it does seem as though there are differences in how diligently a given US agency searches for a known criminal. In the case of Been Lousy (I don't know how to spell his name and I don't want to: it's like Voldemort), his former associations with US government agencies makes it possible that there are people within our government who would rather he were not found -- at least not alive and able to talk.

Also, they don't dare find, interview, try Bin Laden--he may know too much. There's also billions and billions of Saudi Arabian dollars involved, the oil industry, and God knows what else.

There is a debate as to if Bin Laden is really on dialysis. He is off living in a cave somewhere.

The US needs bin Laden and al Queda as "boogeymen" to pin everything they want on them. They are more important to the Bush administration free and alive than caught or dead.
