Yes it is not a planet any more. The scientists voted on thursday and dicided it was not a planet. They are calling it a Dwarf Planet. They are saying that it is too small to be a planet and it is not a planet because it is mostly gas. They are saying a planet is something that has to be bigger than our moon. Since Pluto has its own moon they are not concidering it to be a planet. Since thursday there has only been 8 planets. See if they were going to keep pluto as a planet there would have to be at least two more planets which means that the orbits of all the planets are wrong because in order to be a planet it has to be able to orbit around the sun. The other planets dont have their own moon like pluto. The planets that they thought existed after pluto are now Dwarf Planets. There is a rock out their farther away than pluto that they named Zena, but since thier not counting pluto as a planet than they are not sure what Zena is. If you compare pluto with the other planets it is the smallest one you will find. That goes along with another planet thay thought was out there. The planet X. They are not sure what this is eathier. I hope I was of some help. You can e mail me if you have anymore questions

Everyone who reads a newspaper, watches TV, or uses the Internet has heard.

They changed the definition of what a planet is so that little lumps out there are now called minor planets. Same lump, same -place, different name.

"OK all you looky-loos. You can now go back about your normal lives. There is nothing to see there." is the present situation. If you lived there you might need to change your zip code - if not your life will be unaffected.

I heard this rumor/theory/idea several times. I don't know what a *planet* is exactly, in terms of a scientific definition, and why there is a need to remove pluto and add two new ones. maybe star science has been dull for too long, time for a shake-up.

Yes. It is true. The decision has been taken by an international organisation of astronomers. Check out the details at... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pluto

The IAU with just 424 voting members, declared Pluto a "dwarf planet" and reduced its status

As far as I know it's not true so far.

It was supposed to go up to vote because they may have possibly found a new outer planet. But I haven't heard that any changes have happened yet.

Look it up on the science news page.

Yea, they voted on it and decided it wasn't a planet. They didn't
ask me for my vote. Pluto has always been a planet since I was born and it will always be one to me. Screw em.
