NO! But you can get it from them if they have been in it and you touch them.

This is such a good question!! My horses have been in a pasture that has poisen ivy in it. They have never shown any signs of having it.
But.... I have been getting poisen ivy all over my legs and for the life of me I couldn't figure out from where!
I bet I have been getting off the horses I have been riding!!
Thanks for asking the question! Now how do you get it off the horse so you can ride?

the oils in a horse coat help to protect them from such things but if they are in it long enough they can get skin irritation's from it just like a person,
but not from casual contact with it.
however if they have been in it and you touch them you will fell the affects.
