My family has been here in the USA since before the civil war, my dads side is German and my moms side is Irish. I am sure there could be others mixed in but it is hard to say. I do know that we came from the north central part of the country and now live in the edge of the south central.

But I belive most people from the USA that have been here 100 years or longer are mixed breeds. 4 generations is only 40 years and I know that I myself have 3 kids one Mexican, one Irish and the other childs mom was just a white girl that I did not know much about. So with that much free open sex and child birth I am sure you might be on to something.

Most Americans don't actually know their ethnic heritage. They'll often guess based on dubious physical characteristics or oral history handed down which may or may not be true. I don't think you could generalize without some actual research, but somebody might have published something on this. Check your library.
