Hello. - When I was a child, I thought it was interesting to see animals I had never seen before.
However as an Adult, my view/opinion has changed - It is not interesting, I believe animals should not be caged at people's expense to view them.
Have a nice day. :)

I guess in an ideal world we'd keep all wild animals free. However, zoos serve an important purpose beyond just entertainment. Zoos are actively involved in breeding and maintaining endangered animals. In some cases, zoos may be the only place where a species can survive. With declining wild habitats species are dying out every day and could be lost forever were it not for captive populations. In some cases, zoos participate in breeding and rehabilitation programs where animals are re-introduced into the wild. Also, zoos expose people to animals they might never otherwise see or learn about. Awareness can help endangered species and wild animals get the respect, help, and protection that they need to continue to survive. Furthermore, one could argue that a properly cared for captive animal has it better than in the wild - a captive animal need not worry about starving, being preyed upon, getting sick without veterinary care, etc. As long as the zoo takes excellent care of its animals I see no problem with them.

It would be better to keep them in a zoo instead of letting idiots go out and hunt lions, tigers and other "exotic" animals for their own pleasure and "enjoyment" or to try keeping as pets.
In an ideal world, the animals could roam free and we could still admire them, love them and learn about them. In a zoo or zoo-like setting, it is safe for humans to visit these animals without being attacked (usually - it has happened) and the animals are not hunted in the zoo by humans. It's not the same as being in the circus after all.

Yes and NO
Yes if the animal is on the brink of becoming extinct then it needs the help of man to give it a boost like the panda
i do however think it is cruel in the case of badly managed Zoos were animals are teased by unsupervised children and irresponsible adults
I've seen a badly managed zoo however a safari park i would agree with more

Yep. Especially zoos like Woodland Park in Seattle. It's more of a habitat than a zoo, and places like that are wonderful. They are saving endangered species and educating the public. Also, think of all of the animals you would never get to see if it weren't for zoos. This is coming from a WWF member who is a huge animal lover and supports any wildlife charity that comes down the pike.

Unfortunately, if we continue to take away natural habitats, the only places some of these animals will survive on this planet are in zoos or sanctuaries. We recently visited the San Diego Zoo, and so many of the animals there are on the critically endangered list. It broke my heart.

It depends on the zoo. There are many responsible zoos dedicated to the health and happiness of animals. They focus on education and preservation of species. This is great. Zoos that are primarily for profit and the circus, and such are terrible places where animals are abused and are not happy.

hi i live in rocky and we have a zoo and the chimps up here are teased to the **** house these chimps never knew how to spit but the do now the visitors are forever spraying soft drink and throwing rocks sticks food at them all the time poor chimps and they are locked up in this small cage that i would not stick myself in there but it this way my house is bigger. I believe that if you are going to put animals in a zoo make sure it has ENOUGH room for them there is no heart breaking thing to see animals locked up in such small cages.

I think it depends on whether the animal has enough space etc to be happy. To try to say all zoos are good or all are bad is silly.
