They lose a ton of weight to fit into a wedding dress and then turn into Shamu after the wedding. I see it all the time. And this is BEFORE having kids!

some I guess get comfortable...bored or think they got there man and just don't care anymore. I was 30 when I met the man I am married to. I got pregnant..third child...and was 132 when we met, after I had the baby I kept a lot of weight on, with my other 2 I lost the weight without even trying. I stayed over weight for a while bout 20 lbs and was very upset. It is real hard for me to lose weight. I finally went to a weight loss clinic and was shown how to eat right , in a month I had lost 10lbs. I want to look like I did when I met him for my sake and his. I take pride in looking good for my husband. And all the while he was giving me a hard time, he thought I was beautiful no matter what. I just can't see letting myself go like that. It bothered me and I wasn't even close to being a whale. It's all about self worth.

Well, if they lose weight to get into the wedding dress, then apparently they have had weight problems all along. Why would marriage suddenly make them thin? People who "diet" don't lose weight and keep it off. People who make life style changes and change their eating habits do lose weight and keep it off. As soon as someone goes off of a diet, as is the case in many situations of a bride, they gain the weight right back. But I'm sure you are in perfect physical condition, so you will never have to worry about being less than perfect...but if you are so fortunate to find a mate, hopefully, if your body does change, they will not be as hard on you as you apparently are on other people. Grow up!

I have seen this with men and women both. I feel if you love someone it shouldn't matter what they look like. Yet I also feel that we are attracted to certain body types. For example a man isn't attracted to large woman and she gets huge. that in a relationship you should try to keep yourself as much the way you were in the beginning.
I know a couple that spent hundreds of dollars to make themselves look perfect on their wedding day. Within a short time. They had put back on the weight and then some.

People get comfortable with themselves in mariages. We let our hair down with one another. Then, there's not the idea you're looking for anyone anymore, so he's vowed to love you for better or worse, and there it goes. On another level, the purpose for losing weight was not for the right reasons. Honestly, if a woman loses weight to get into the dress or to look as pretty as she can on their wedding day, then she's met the deadline. Unfortunately, there was no real understanding to change one's eating habits because it extends life and is good for you. Maintaining a healthy size keeps one healthy. Most learn these lessons when its either too late- death, he leaves you for a smaller, sexier chick, you shop only in the mega-plus sizes and he snarls at you when he looks at you or you constantly feel inferior to smaller sized persons. Buying two seats for yourself on an airplane may be a good sign to change.
By the way, how about those keg of beer, 9 month belly's the guys get that push forward as if they are about to deliver? Men let themselves go to. Wonder whats their reason?

Because that is a side effect of frustration and unhappiness,a cry for help .most men ,not all ,stop treating their wives in a special way once married and some women just let everything go along with the figure.If you notice most fat wives become slim once they get divorce because the burden has been lifted.When a wife is happy ,she will do anything to keep him happy.

Sorry buddy, I've been married for 7 years, have 2 kids and am still a size 4. My husband on the other hand has gained the weight. It works both ways. lol

Well if you are talking about your wife it probably has something to do with after the honeymoon night she found out what a lazy lover she had to endure the rest of her life!!! That kind of depression would make anyone gain weight! And if your looking at a friends wife asking this question,do them a favor stay out of their business!
You need to seriousely invest some time in self evaluation!!!

Because after getting married, there is this rule that we all have to eat 3 times a day, and it can't just be salad because the slovenly men we live with seem to think they would die if they didn't eat meat and potatoes all the time. Also, when we are single, we are young. When we are married, we are getting older with less tone. It has nothing to do with we got our man, now we can gorge.

Its not only the women that gets fat the men do too usually a result of "comfort" and the couple now eats more regularly together , have parties together, If that is what happened to you maybe you need to spend more time with her perhaps hiking, walking or doing more active things :)

maybe before marriage they are looking for a man to marry and love !! after that they already have !!! so no need to care !! lol !
i was kidding !!!!! its different from woman to another !!! it dependes on the nature of the body !!!! some women stay slim even after giving birth !!!
Anyway i see it fare when men start to be fat with big stomach !!
