They have confermed that Vemon will be in Spider-man 3, but do not expect very much from him. Venom is a combination of Eddie Brock and the Symbiote (the black suit that Spider-man has in the third movie). Spider-man originally obtains the Symboite from one of those cross Marvel space wars, so I don't know how he will get it in the movie. My guess is John Jameson will bring it home from one of his space flights.
The reason you shouldn't expect much from Venom in Spider-man 3 is Spider-man/Peter Parker is actually battling the Symboite (the evil inside) during the movie so I would only expect to see Venom at the end when Spider-man finally rejects the Symboite and it finds Venom.
Eddie Brock is going to be played by Topher Grace (Eric Forman from That 70s Show) which maked everyone i have talked to about it say: "huh?!" just because from what I have seen of Topher he is kinda puny compared to Eddie Brock who looked like he fell off the back of a WWE truck.
As for Spider-man 2, The Punisher and Venom were in that? Sorry I don't recall either of them. I looked online and found what you are talking about with the Punisher and i'll have to check that out next time I watch the movie. As far as Venom I don't see anything like that. Do you mean there was a big butch writer who was supposed to be Eddie Brock?

Thomas Hayden Church is playing Sandman. The character of Harry Osborn is probably either going to be Green Goblin or Hobgoblin. Peter Parker becomes involved with Venom.
