normally the unsold food [1] if possible be reheat then sell it again [2] reheat n cook with other dishes to become another new menu the next day [3] discard [4] give it to the staff/workers [5] send to shelter home for the underprivileged as charity. why i put discard in third because some restaurant has that kind of policy to safe guard their reputation as they don't want those out of flavor food being sold later on by some one else.

First of all why this question? Do you have any plans?
I know some restaurants who prepare hygienically and preserve unsold food and distribute among homeless.

The restaurant i work for only makes enough for that day , we have it down to a fine art and hardly have any waste , but i guess some either keep it for the following day ,which you can if it is kept at the right temp and in clean conditions .. waste is a terrible thing this day and age when you have so many people in this world starving .. but you cant change peoples habits can you?

It depends on the restaurant. Some throw it out, some donate it to food banks and soup kitchens, and some items may be kept until the next day and reheated.

We have an organization in my city called "Second Harvest". They collect food that is left over from restaurants. This is not just fast food, this is food that comes from reputable restaurants, caterers, etc. Then they distribute the food to homeless shelters in the city.

The people who work in the restaurant are allowed to take it home, otherwise they throw it out.
