Although I have always worked, I found myself rehoused here after my daughter was assaulted and injured, at 13, by a thuggish boy. We had to flee our rented house and the Council put us in a tower block.

For 12 years it's been relatively ok, we had an elderly lady above and one below. Then the lady upstairs died and a young Chav couple moved in.

Ever since I have had to endure the nastiest, thumpiest teknomuzzak, as well as him screaming at her and bouncing her off the wall (twice, when I and other neighbours called the cops, the stupid girl said "they were playing" to cover-up for him).

I can't abide the way they scream at their poor little toddler, call her a "f*****g little c**t!" or "b*****d!". They keep her up 'till 3 am, dancing or fighting with each other, presumably on drink/drugs.

If I call the police again or report the noise nuisance, they'll only lie, deny it and then victimise me some more; frankly, I fear a petrolbomb reprisal.

Any LEGAL suggestions?

Hey thanks all of you, I really needed a bit of encouragement, this has been getting me down, esp. the lack of sleep.

Some qualifying comments:
1) I haven't ever heard the couple physically abuse the child, so it wouldn't qualify as Child Abuse, else they'd be in nick already, trust me!
2) The girl does not help herself, by protecting her Chav, I suspect it could be because she hits him too!

I guess I'll get a tape recorder! Cheers XX

A tape recorder is a fantastic idea. See if you can get a plainclothes (street wear, no uniform) police officer to come to your apartment when they are about to to start, or when they're fighting. I'm thinking an officer of the law would be an invaluable witness. As for the child, insulting and belittling her IS abuse (abuse comes in many forms) so see about contacting a child welfare agency. Bless.

Keep reporting it, and if you can document all of the activity. Use a tape recorder or video camera if you have one or can get your hands on one. You shouldn't have to put up with this, and what the guy upstairs is doing is domestic abuse, which is illegal. Try making anonymous complaints to the authorities if you can. Take somebody with you that is three times his size and knock on his door when the nonsense is going on. Don't be afraid - fight back.

The best thing I can think of would be to, again, file your complaints with the police and also contact the council housing. There must be some kind of rules at the place where you're living, and there's no doubt in my mind that they must be violating those rules. Might not get them arrested, but may get them thrown out of that housing and thus out of your life.

You might also consider informing child protective services, if they are abusing their child like that.

Shoot them, make it look like the toddler did it....your police are so stupid, they will believe it...past event prove it. OR, leave some white powder in an envelope (leave NO finger prints on any part of it), shove it under their door, when you see it gone, callt the police and report suspected terrorism....they will be raided, locked up for unknown periods of time while the powder is being analyzed for bacteria...at least you will have a break. Good luck

First of all call child protective services about the child. Not sure if they would do anything but it couldnt hurt. If you have a tape recorder how about taping what they are doing and take that to the police?????? Other than that I would go talk to a lawyer.
