Does anyone know the name of this movie? In the MST3k opening credits they show a scene where there's a big godzilla-like creature skidding along on it's tail. I want to see that movie but I don't know what it's called.

Every answer so far is wrong. The movie in question is "Godzilla vs. Megalon", Mystery Science Theater 3000 episode 0212.
The scene in question, a giant robot named Jet Jaguar is holding an attacking monster and Godzilla runs back, gets a running start and basically does a flying kick at the captive monster. TWICE! Joel and the bots are laughing so hard the first time its hard to watch the scene without them and not think about their comments.

It's "King Kong vs. Godzilla" --such a classic bad monster movie and a hilarious MST3K episode.
If you haven't alraedy, I highly recommend finding the book "A Year at the Movies," by Kevin Murphy (writer and voice of Tom Servo). He watches one movie every day during 2001. The book is divided into 52 short essays that give insights and satire into everything from Sundance Film Festival to fanboys attending Lord of the Rings. This wasn't related to your question, but as a fellow MSTie, I thought you'd want to know :).

I'm guessing, but how about Son of Godzilla, in which the character of Minya (Godzilla's kid) was revealed? Tail-skidding sounds like something he might do.
