I had the pleasure to live in Fife, Scotland for ten years and had a great time, excluding the central belt the boarders and highlands of Scotland are beautiful. I have to say though the weather is awful and in winter it is so dark for so long it is depressing.
As for the people, well we have been privileged to meet some wonderful people who are still our friends and visit long after we went south. Saying all that, there are some Scots who just have to show their hatred of the English every time they meet someone English, they believe that they'd be wealthy if it were not for the English, on a night out my nationality would be mentioned at least two to three times usually in an unpleasant way. I have now lived and work Ireland for nearly four years and have never been insulted here for being English in the way I was in Scotland, in truth it is part of the reason we moved south again. In that respect some of the Scots need to be grow up and stop being so racist.

I reckon we would nick a factor against the might of Wales, yet Belgium will rip us a sparkling one if Levein performs 4-5-a million or 4-6-0 in Brussels. Wales 2 - 2 Scotland Belgium 4 - 0 Scotland

Scotland is the only place I could ever live, it is so beautiful. I am actually English so, I suppose, in theory, I should feel great animosity towards me. I don't though as the Scottish people are, contrary to common belief, lovely, generous and hospitable.
One has to come up here, however, with the right mental attitude and not think "I am great I am English and everybody up here are merely yokels with heather sprouting out of their ears" and believe me, I have come across that attitude. Those people are not going to like it up here.
One has to embrace Scotland for it to work, and if one does so, there can be no better, fantastic place to live.

I've only been to Scotland once - Braemar Games and then back to Edinburgh to stay with my friends family.
Best time that I had in my life. Loved the people because they were so friendly and I loved the scenery.
Would happily go back again - but I wasn't too crazy about that big mountain pass! You know, the one that the bus nearly fell over the edge in the thirties!

I love Scotland and most of its people. I'm born and bred in Edinburgh. Sometimes tho when I'm on holiday and there's a loud group of very annoying Glaswgians I find them really offensive and show up the rest of us scots.

Like any country and nationality there are good and bad but in general I really like Scotland and Scottish people.
I have been lucky enough to meet a really great Scottish girl so perhaps I am just a little bit biased !

Scotland is on of the most beautiful places I have ever been, especially the highlands. Scottish people in the main are great. Funny, outspoken and passionate about their culture. But there's good and bad like everywhere else.

Although England born and bread my Mother was Scottish so I understand the lingo as It were, when the rest of my southern sasernach brethren (bet that's spelt wrong) don't. The Scots are a fantastic people with a great sense of humour, I love em.

There are about 5 million Scots, and the ones I know and have encountered in Edinburgh and Glasgow have been okay. It's impossible to generalise about so many people.
