I have used several methods, all of them work. The first one I use is association. Make some sort of association with the information that I want to retain. Memory really works best if it can associate with something. And then for my overall memory improvement, I try to remember my dreams. Every last thing that I can think of. Not only will your memory improve, but you will become more aware of life in general, and can perceive the subtle messages from your subconscious. I almost forgot, Smell! there is this thing that you can do that is so cool. For example, if you are studying for an exam, put on some cherry chap stick. When you are going to take that exam, put on the cherry chap stick, and you will be amazed at how you will remember everything that you studied.

I had some brain trama and had residual effects were problems with my memory. I found that training my brain how to intake more really helped. I eventually found my long term memory improving as well. I started remembering things from when I was really young. It doesn't happen overnight, you have to practice remembering groups of things that you can associate with things. Like for me when it comes to numbers I put it in a math solution. It all depends on how your brain may work. Good luck!
