wicked, son of a witch... any Gregory Maguire
the dark tower series by stephen king (not scary at all)
lucia, lucia
the time traveler's wife
anything by laurie ann nataro (so funny!)
the shanarra books by terry brooks (sci-fi, but good... i'm not a sci-fi fan, but i did enjoy these books, there's a lot!)
that's really all i can think of off the top of my head. it would help if you let me know what kind of books you like. i am so all over the place i could probably find one in the genre you like.

There are a lot of good ones out there. The best one I've found was King Fortis the Brave by LaMontagne and Snyder. It's about a pair of twins that are pulled into a magical land where they find themselves caught in the middle of a battle for control of the realm. The boy twin, Rodney, is mistaken for King Fortis, an Arthur-like figure that is to someday return in the time of the land's greatest need. It's really a great book full of humor and adventure. I recommend it to my students all the time and have had students that really hate to read come back and tell me how much they love it.

I strongly recommend "The Girl Who Loved Tom Gorden" by Stephen King. Its actually a story about a young girl lost in the woods. Not what the title suggests, but its a great book.
Also, the books Madeleine L'Engle writes. I suggest "A Wrinkle in Time" and "Meet the Austins."

"East of Eden" by John Steinbeck its a wonderful book if u want to read something with a more complex plot;its not difficult for reading, but there are many characters and the way they interfere makes the book very exiting. Also u have to read "Doll" by Boleslaw Prus, but I am not sure u can find it on english, anyway it is worth trying-the book is just breathtaking. If u can e-mail me what kind of books u are looking for,i am sure I can help you more

Amazon.com recommended a book to me that I tried and loved. It's called "The Hunt Chronicles: Volume I" (2) murder mysteries about 100 pages each. Incredibly good.

Go to Amazon.com and search:
"Lost from Atlantis Book 1"
"Death by Murder David Lindsay" - you have to search that way or the title doesn't come up. There's a lot of sex and violence in that one but it's not gratuitous.
and "Super Spaghetti."
They're all by David A. Lindsay.
They're free if you have Kindle Unlimited, and you can get a free trial of that - Google how.
If you don't have a Kindle you can get a free smartphone app from Google Play, or read it online - all free.
