I'm pretty awful at drawing but seem to be able to free hand copy other peoples styles (well cartoon style anyway). I find the best thing is to closely study the a picture you want to copy and look at the lines that make up the image. Some of the parts of the image may be mearley shading or hatching and such (depends on who your drawing obviously).

For things like the heads and facial features theres what i suppose you would call the cross hair lines. I.e the spacing of where the various features go e.e. so that the eyes and ears line up properly. so the nose is centrally between the eyes but lower on the image. The sites mentioned should include these basics details.

Don't try it on a computer though because unless you have a very steady hand you invariably make mistake after mistake and personally i find it far easier with Paper and pencil.

I've done stuff like Beavis and Butthead, A Stan Lee caricature and Garfield using these methods and although they look slightly deformed I was quite pleased with the results.

Hope this helps
