Yes thank God! We all know God wants us to smoke.

Now Perhaps!!!!!!!!!? Is not a question. You have a warped misguided perception of those who don't smoke and don't need there health put at risk by weak willed people who need to take the drug! I can assure you that non smokers don't need tranquilisers or anything else! It's just simply that we are superior and can have fun without drugs - and we can make love longer and better without spluttering over our partners!! I am currently working in Africa where the big tobacco companies are working hard to create young addicts for their drugs - as if the Continent hasn't enough problems! Congratulations on helping the multinational drug barons continue to make money at the price of misery!Thankfully you are also misguided in thinking that the smoking bans will be repealed!

no smoking ban repealed here. Besides, I'm sure it is not just in the pubs and even so, there are patrons there that have chosen not to smoke and have a right not to be subjected to breathing in other peoples smoke and going home smelling like an ash tray. I am a smoker myself, but I enjoy sitting in a restaraunt to eat a meal and not have a cloud of cigarette smkoe hoovering around me.

Cigarettes surly have you under control, you poor thing, bless bless your heart. I used to smoke and I know what it is to be hooked I stop for a good reason its not good for you, but after hearing you I am sure glad I quit. I don't want anything having such control of me. Smoking is a an imposing bad habit that not only is it hurting the smoker (who doesn't seem to care) but hurts even more those that are around them ( like their own children) That should give anyone that loves their children a reason to stop smoking.

Now, perhaps, all the smokers will enjoy this winter all the more. It's going to be a little odd watching them huddle in little stinky groups, outside in the rain, while the rest of us have fun supping beer and holding conversations in the sanctity of the pub. Enabled to do this because we no longer have to choke on your exhaled fumes or wait for the pauses in conversation, when you have a drag, to get a word in edgeways...

Awe, poor addicted person who will make every excuse in the book to justify it. Why should I, a non smoker, be forced to breathe in that wretched smoke with that horrible smell because you choose to do something that is bad for you? We are not born with a cigarette hanging out of our mouths, never have been, never will be. So make any excuse you want, but I'm the one being put out by the smokers who clog up the bars and the doorways. My son is the one being forced to breathe in that 2nd hand smoke because the smokers who don't care, refuse to find another place for their habit.
But thank you to the smokers who do find a nice comfortable corner so us non smokers do not have to be subjected to breathing it in.

i have to say that even when i was smoking, i thought smoking in resturants and enclosed areas (besides bars, which made no sense banning smoking in those) was gross. i like my food to taste like food personally. i guess that and the mall are really the only places i really didn't like it. other than that - why should anyone care? go somewhere else!
...and if you want to say something about having a special smoking area - yeah, that so doesn't work, the whole resturant starts to smell with just one. sorry, i will always think that smoking should not be allowed in resturants (even resturants with bars should not be smoking in the bar area) blech!

I don't smoke cigarettes personally, since I don't like the smell, taste or feel that I get from them... but I've got nothing wrong with the fact that other people smoke, as long as they're not blowing it in my face or whatever.
I think the understanding needs to go both ways-- you want people to not disrespect you for smoking, but in order to gain this, you have to offer your respect to the fact that everyone is different and it's their choice to not smoke and inhaling those toxins shouldn't be forced on them just because someone else is being a stubborn prick.
We ALL need to allow for one-another in this society... I think allocated smoking zones are a good idea- it keeps people from complaining or being forced into uncomfortable situations.
Unfortunately, it's a topic which is never going to be resolved, since there's always going to be people who want smoking to be banned COMPLETELY and there's always going to be people who want to have the liberty to smoke wherever they want- without considering the fact that it isn't an activity which SOLELY affects them and their body- but which has consequences on those who surround them.
It's not like smoking is just scratching your bum in public- people want no-smoking zones and stuff because it causes serious illness and can also react with people that have allergies and athsma, etc.- they're not telling you not to do it just to piss you off or try to cramp your style, they're doing it because the action that YOU'RE engaging in is actually impacting on THEIR bodies and THEIR lives- it goes from being a personal choice of you doing what you want to your own body, to being where you're deciding that their wellbeing should be comprimised by smoking around them.
If you want to smoke 12 packets of cigarettes in a day- knock yourself out! Just so long as you're doing it in a fashion that's not going to make anyone else sick. I mean, can you really, seriously be pissed off with someone just because they don't want to have their health comprimised by someone else's habit?
If they're being a jerk about it, by all means- put them in their place- but have the decency to realise that by choosing to smoke publicly, you're not choosing to do something to your body alone, but to a number of those surrounding you.
But like I said... it'll never be resolved.

Yet another example of the politically correct with their secret agenda trying to impose their values on others by removing choice.

Firstly, I don't know where you read that, but it certainly has not been repealed, and secondly - nice line of questioning - I'd rather not be in the same pub with you anyway. (Squeaky clean yet smell of urine? Please, proof read before you submit.)

What a shame, Im fed up of other peoples selfishness harming my health. I was hoping they were going to ban cars and air fresheners and perfume and washing up liquid and shampoo and mobile phones and EVERYTHING!
